PLA (polylactide) is a biodegradable and biocompatible 3D plastic obtained from plant-based raw materials. Unlike ABS, it does not require special conditions; there is no need for a heated table or a thermostatic chamber.

Large objects printed from PLA are virtually non-deforming or cracking. Perfect for printing large-sized items, as well as parts for which it is important to accurately convey geometric dimensions. Ideal for printing interior items that require meticulous detail.

PLA is the most sustainable plastic. It does not have an unpleasant odor, which allows it to print without problems in a home or office environment.

Tips from Bestfilament:
- For high-quality printing, use nozzles with a diameter of 0.5 mm and larger.
- The softening temperature of PLA plastic is about 50 degrees, therefore, if the thermal barrier is not cooled sufficiently, the plastic may soften and form a plug. To avoid this, provide maximum airflow to the thermal barrier radiator.
- Use a foam filter with a little oil (machine oil or vegetable oil) when printing with PLA to prevent blockage.
- PLA-plastic retains its plasticity for some time after cooling, which is convenient, for example, for assembling composite models. Heat the parts slightly before assembling to make it easier to connect them.
